Antonio Citterio
Antonio Citterio is one of the greatest architects of our times, recognised both nationally and internationally. Born in Meda in 1950, he opened his design studio back in 1972 (even before he received a degree in architecture from Milan Polytechnics in 1975).
In the late 1980s he founded a studio together with Terry Dwan, with whom he designed buildings in Europe and Japan. In 1999 he founded the current study called "Antonio Citterio & Patricia Viel" with Patricia Viel, completing sophisticated and complex projects all over the world.
The elegance, refinement and formal sobriety of his style have meant that he has signed numerous product design projects over the years, collaborating with some of the most important companies in the design sector, both Italian and foreign. Just to name a few, we can mention companies of the calibre of Arclinea, B&B Italia, Maxalto, Flexform, Flos, Kartell, Hermes and Vitra. Some of the projects completed for these Brands earned him the prestigious Compasso d'Oro Award.
The furnishings bearing the signature of the architect Citterio are always measured. For Citterio, luxury does not mean ostentation but perfect quintessence. The minimalism that distinguishes it comes from the wise use of quality materials, from the good operations of the mechanisms and from the refinement of the meticulously designed details.
Sustainability, a theme that has been strongly emerging in recent years, is also one of the most important focuses for the Milanese study. Sustainability that is seen from the perspective of an informed choice of materials and their life cycle and subsequent disposal.
