First introduced into production in 2005, the CH20 quickly gained recognition as a modern classic, securing the prestigious ICFF Editors’ Award in New York that same year.
The Elbow Chair is defined by its iconic steam-bent backrest, which is crafted from a single piece of solid wood. This innovative design not only provides excellent elbow and lower back support but also allows for a variety of comfortable sitting positions, making it versatile for different settings. The chair’s refined silhouette is further enhanced by a unique rail construction beneath the seat, formed from pressed veneer, offering an optimal balance between stability and a light, almost floating visual impression.

Carl Hansen & Søn was established in 1908 by cabinetmaker Carl Hansen. Carl Hansen & Søn’s passion for producing high-end designer furniture is rooted in more than a century of craftsmanship traditions. In 1934 Carl Hansen, handed over the reins of Carl Hansen & Søn, to his son Holger Hansen. This also announced a new era for the company, where focus shifted towards cooperation with some of the most talented designers in Denmark.
