The Cassina Hill House chair, designed by the renowned Charles Rennie Mackintosh, is an iconic representation of his bold approach to design and craftsmanship. Originally created for Hill House in Helensburgh, Scotland, this chair draws inspiration from the minimal and abstract lines of Japanese graphics, embodying a symbolic and figurative elegance. The linear, geometric form of the chair is as much a statement on the articulation of space as it is a functional piece of furniture.
The strikingly tall backrest is defined by a sequence of vertical lines that culminate in a grid of verticals and horizontals, creating a unique visual impact. This re-issue by Cassina, crafted with the expertise of Meda’s furniture makers in Italy’s Brianza region, is available in black-stain ashwood, complemented by a velvet seat cushion for added comfort.
