The Cassina Maralunga 40 sofa, designed by Vico Magistretti, is an internationally acclaimed best-seller. This three-seater sofa is renowned for its inviting, soft padding and smooth, streamlined form. One of its standout features is the adjustable-height headrest, a revolutionary idea introduced by Maralunga and made possible through a patented mechanism using a bicycle chain embedded in the foam cushions. This allows the back cushion to extend upwards, transforming into a supportive headrest.
First introduced in 1974, the Maralunga underwent a restyling in 2014 to celebrate its 40th anniversary. The updated version features removable fabric upholstery for easy cleaning and adds modern details such as refined edge-stitching, which gives this timeless piece a fresh, contemporary appeal. Available as an armchair, footrest, and in two- or three-seater options, the Maralunga family remains a quintessential blend of innovative design and exceptional comfort.
