The Knotted Chair by Cappellini, designed by Marcel Wanders, is a visionary creation that transcends the boundaries between art and furniture. Inspired by the delicate macramé technique, this iconic chair is crafted from carbon fiber covered with aramide fiber cord and coated with epoxy resin, resulting in a structure that is both lightweight and incredibly strong.
This sculptural chair, an adult interpretation of miniature dollhouse chairs, has earned a place in the permanent collections of prestigious institutions such as MoMA in New York, the V&A Museum in London, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. By combining craftsmanship with industrial production techniques, Wanders has created a piece that is not only functional but also a work of art.
