The D.153.1 Armchair by Molteni & C is a timeless piece, originally designed by Giò Ponti in 1953 for his own home on via Dezza in Milan. This armchair is a key element of Ponti’s domestic furnishings, representing his iconic design philosophy that blends modernity with timeless elegance. Molteni & C’s reproduction remains faithful to the original sketches, preserving the integrity of Ponti’s vision while adapting it for modern interiors.
The D.153.1 features a sophisticated brass frame, giving it a touch of luxury and refinement. Its upholstery options include white-blue leather or the distinctive "Punteggiato" fabric, which Ponti originally designed for Rubelli in 1934. This fabric showcases traditional velvet-weaving techniques reinterpreted with contemporary patterns, such as clustered disks with subtle, varying color gradients.
