Conversely, the armchair was conceived for one of Gio Ponti's most cherished projects: the Planchart collectors' villa in Caracas (1953-57). A component of the Gio Ponti Collection, curated by Molteni&C under the artistic guidance of Studio Cerri & Associati, it embodies architectural influences from Ponti's travels to Latin America in 1952-53. Today, the armchair, resembling a snug shell, features a rigid polyurethane frame, a soft polyurethane counter-frame and cushion, upholstered in Molteni&C textiles. This armchair, distinguished by its versatility, won the prestigious Wallpaper Design Awards in 2016, becoming an icon for Molteni&C.
