With an enduring passion for maritime furnishings, Gio Ponti garnered firsthand experience aboard four ocean liners and two cruise ships renovated or constructed from scratch between 1949 and 1951: the Conte Grande, Africa, Oceania, Conte Biancamano, Andrea Doria, and Giulio Cesare. Ponti crafted this armchair with subtle variations specifically for these vessels.
