The CH23 Chair, one of the first designs by Hans J. Wegner exclusively for Carl Hansen & Søn, marks an important milestone in modern furniture design. Introduced in 1950, this chair is a perfect example of how Wegner combined artistic expression with functional ergonomics. At first glance, this chair may appear simple, yet it features a wealth of sophisticated details that reflect Wegner's mastery in woodworking.
The chair’s design includes signature elements like elegant cruciform cover caps on the backrest and a double-woven seat that showcases both durability and craftsmanship. The rear legs are arched, ensuring optimal stability and balance while maintaining a sleek and graceful form. This attention to detail, combined with the chair's overall minimalist aesthetic, has made the CH23 a timeless piece that seamlessly integrates into various interior settings.
