The Flou Babele Swivel Library, designed by Matteo Nunziati, is a masterful fusion of timeless design and modern functionality. Crafted from a combination of coffee-brown oak and matt burnished metal, this bookcase embodies sophistication with a nod to ancient Yemenite architecture. The central column of the Babele serves as both the axis of rotation and the source of illumination, integrating LED lights that emit a warm, inviting glow (73 W, 2700K, 6570 lm). Four horizontal shelves, equipped with vertical dividers of varying heights and depths, provide versatile storage and display options, accommodating everything from books to decorative pieces. The foundation of Flou - which took place in 1978 - was based on the objective of producing beds of high intrinsic and formal quality, combined with the desire to introduce a new 'sleep culture'. It was a period of great social change: more women were going out to work, the homes required multi-functional spaces, there was the growing desire to live life with greater freedom and higher quality. The bedroom became somewhere more dynamic and the bed abandoned the traditional static all-white appearance and delighted dressing in colours.
