Jean Nouvel

Jean Nouvel was born in Fumel (in southern France) in 1945. He graduated from the National High School of Fine Arts in Paris in 1972 and shortly thereafter opened his own studio. In 1981 he won the competition of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, and since then he has received numerous prizes and awards, which allowed him to become a world-famous architect.

His career as a designer responds to his desire to develop an "architecture design", to design objects that adapt to the spirit of the era. The protagonists of his furnishings are lights and surfaces, as well as a strong sculptural tendency.

His production of furnishings is vast: among the most important collaborations we certainly find Poltrona Frau, Molteni & C, MDF Italia, Artemide.

Op. cit. "The elementary nature that I pursue has nothing to do with pure minimalism. Even when it tends to minimise matter, design is no less creative "
