Draga & Aurel
Draga & Aurel is a multidisciplinary design studio founded in 2007 by Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow, specializing in high-end collectible design and artistic furniture. Their unique approach blends diverse backgrounds in art, fashion, and craftsmanship, resulting in original methods that integrate artistic sensibilities into material and composition. Renowned pioneers of upcycling in design, they began by reinventing vintage furniture, creating their signature collections, Deshabillé and Heritage. Their breakthrough came at the 2009 Milan Design Week, leading to notable collaborations with leading furniture brands such as Baxter, Wall&Deco, Visionnaire, Gallotti&Radice, and more recently, Poltrona Frau and Giorgetti. In 2019, the duo presented "Transparency Matters" at Milan Design Week, a collection that explores the interplay of transparency, light, and color. Since its debut, the collection has gained significant recognition and is exhibited at prestigious galleries like Rossana Orlandi Gallery, Nilufar Gallery, and Todd Merrill Studio. Draga & Aurel continue to balance their design work with Aurel's evocative artistic creations, blending art and design in a harmonious and complementary way that redefines their boundaries.
