Ron Gilad
“As a creative person, I need to question my point of view in order to create intriguing new angles.”
Ron Gilad is an internationally famous designer and artist known the world over for his unmistakable abstract style which distinguishes his every creation. The secret of his success lies in the link he finds between his abstract ideas and the dynamics of industrial production. This results in uniquely poetic and beautiful objects able to win over the general public and sell thousands of pieces all over the world.
Born in Tel Aviv in 1972, Ron Gilad moved to New York in 2001 where he opened his own design studio, working in the great metropolis for around 12 years. Now his professional life is divided between Tel Aviv and Milan where he devotes himself both to products made on an industrial scale and to limited editions and unique pieces. He has collaborated with countless companies and continues to do so, the most famous of which include: Flos, Molteni&C., Cassina, Driade, Moooi, Danese and Magis.
For Ron Gilad, the relationship between an object and its function is essential and through this relationship he is able to question people's perceptions of it. Considered true works of art, some of his creations appear in group exhibitions, such as the Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, or solo exhibitions, such as the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. The Israeli designer also won the Elle Décor International Design Award and the Wallpaper Design Award in 2013.
