Ron Arad

Born in Tel Aviv in 1951, Ron Arad is a famous Israeli artist and designer who created some of the most iconic products ever. Blurring the boundaries between contemporary art and industrial design, his style is highly recognizable and some of his works are on display in the world's most important art and design museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.

After attending the Jerusalem Art Academy, Ron Arad moved to London where he continued his studies and got involved in the world of culture and art, approaching design specifically. In 1989, he opened his own architectural, art and design studio in London giving rise to Ron Arad Associates while, in 1994, he opened another studio, this one in Como, which dealt exclusively with design.

Each of his products is distinguished by predominantly fluid lines and enveloping volumes which make each creation unique for aesthetic impact, skilful use of materials and contemporary spirit. Arad has collaborated with countless brands in the past and continues to do so; Kartell, Moroso, Vitra, Alessi, Artemide, Fiam, Magis and Driade are but a few of the noteworthy companies.

Ron Arad is a highly esteemed designer and is also known for his continuous experimentation with materials such as aluminium, steel and plastics, also changing the established concepts of form and structure. All this has allowed the Israeli designer to create products with unique aesthetics that remain impressed in people's minds and industrial design history.
