Michael Anastassiades

«Not even for a moment can I stop thinking and designing that which surrounds me.»

«I think continuously, obsessively. I am attracted by all forms of creativity», he explains. «As a boy, I dreamt of becoming a creative person but I never really knew how I could become one. Perhaps this is the reason I ended up in design by chance.»

Michael Anastassiades was born in Cyprus in 1967 where he did military service. He later moved to London, where he received his degree in civil engineering from Imperial College and then took a master's degree in industrial design from the Royal College of Art. His training was neither linear nor predictable, which led him today to become an internationally renowned designer, founding his own studio in London in 1994.

The designer's studio was created for the purpose of exploring both culture and contemporary aesthetics, creating products of the highest quality in which the perfect balance between design and innovation, participation and interaction, minimalism and functionality is emphasized. An exploration that led to the creation of lighting products and design pieces of exceptional value, so much so that many of his works are exhibited in some of the most important and distinguished museums in the world: from the MOMA in New York, to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and several monographic exhibitions dedicated to him.

During his career, he has had the ability and fortune to collaborate with established companies in the industry such as Flos, B&B Italia, Cassina, and Herman Miller just to name a few.
