Verner Panton
Verner Panton was born in 1926 in Denmark. Defined as a Nordic designer by no means minimal, a truly out of the ordinary artist.
In fact, his works are an exception that confirm the rule, an exception to what in commonly labelled as Nordic design. No total white, but a bold and wise use of colour, fluid and unpredictable shapes. Here are the primary characteristics of his works.
Panton has always been fascinated by the achievements of new technologies and new materials, as he saw them as opportunities that could be applied to the production landscape, thus expanding the possibilities of the furniture industry.
He began experimenting with plastic, creating the first chair cast and printed in a single piece, today recognised worldwide (The Panton Chair).
Vitra and Louis Poulsen are certainly among his most important collaborations.
