De Pas D'Urbino e Lomazzi

Born in Milan in the 1930s, this design duo has worked together since 1966, specializing in architecture, object design, installations, and urban planning. During the 1960s, they gained recognition for creating furniture and temporary architecture using advanced industrial signs, materials, and technologies. Their innovative designs include a series of pneumatic housing structures for the Italian Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo and the XIV Triennale di Milano.

In 1972, they participated in the "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape" exhibition at the MoMA in New York, continuing their boundary-pushing experimentation at the intersection of architecture and design. One of their notable projects was the "Italienische Möbel Design 1950/80" exhibition in Cologne. In 1979, they received the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award. Their works are now part of collections in the world’s leading museums, with their contributions well-documented in both historical and international design literature. Alongside their design work, they were actively involved in theoretical discourse through the Industrial Design Association. Their collaboration with Zanotta began in 1966, and although architect De Pas passed away in 1991, their legacy continues to shape the design world.
