Toshiyuki Kita

Toshiyuki Kita, born in 1969, is a Japanese designer who has been active in Italy and Europe for many years. With studios in both Osaka and Milan, Kita has acted as a bridge between Eastern and Western design, blending Japanese artistic traditions with international trends. His designs, known for their soft curves and vibrant colors, perfectly represent the design style popular in the 1980s and 1990s, with the iconic Wink chair being a prime example. In the 1970s, Kita collaborated with prominent Italian architects like Giotto Stoppino and Mario Bellini before establishing his own studio. He has worked with top brands such as Cassina, Moroso, Oluce, Magis, and Wittmann. Kita’s work is featured in major design museums, including MoMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. In 2011, he was honored with the Compasso d’Oro for his lifetime achievements.
