Christophe Delcourt
Designer Christophe Delcourt was born in Saint-Mar-des-Fossès, France, in 1966. His educational background was in the humanities: he attended an acting school and approached the world of interior design when he found himself having to design the theatre sets on which he worked.
Since then his passion has taken off and today he is recognized and appreciated for his furniture and handmade lamps, which show a deep respect for traditional French craftsmanship and his love for the environment.
"Nature is the first element in my design process," says the designer. "On closer inspection, we discover there are many incredible shapes in the material world that can be applied to furniture design - shapes, colours, consistencies, which can be infinitely combined. I hope my work bears witness to my love for materials, and my deep devotion to craftsmanship and handcrafting. "
“I feel that we shouldn’t just live with our furniture, but grow old with it… Now, for example, we work, eat and love on a sofa…(therefore) when we design a sofa, we need to understand that it will truly be a life-long companion .”
In 1996 he opened a studio named after himself in Paris and meanwhile collaborates with large companies such as Minotti, for whom he designed several products in the 2020 collection and Roche Bobois.
His pieces have been exhibited in many museums and galleries all over the world.
