Vincent Van Duysen
"Feeling protected is something very important, something we all need, it is something I would like to reflect in my architectural and design projects."
Vincent Van Duysen was born in 1962 in Belgium. His studies took place at the Saint-Lucas Faculty of Architecture in Ghent. After graduating, he then moved to Milan, where he was able to interface with leading figures such as Aldo Cibic, with whom he began his career in the world of design and interior design.
After moving to Antwerp, he first collaborated with Jean De Meulder and then in 1990 he opened his professional studio, which is the reflection of his passions. In fact, all the projects range from architecture to interior design and the furnishing world. These are projects where change in scale is managed with extreme skill, as well as the transition across different cultures: In fact, some of his work can be found in Europe, in the United States or in the Middle East.
The common thread linking all his projects, regardless of their scale, is definitely the skilful use of sheer and tactile materials, which clearly define themselves and find their utmost expression in straightforward graphic marks and a clear and timeless design. Functionality, longevity and comfort are some of the key words which guide his projects and allow him to withstand changing fashions and the passing of time.
During his career Vincent Van Duysen has received several awards and recognitions, which have led him to be recognized and appreciated all over the world and becoming today the art director of several Italian brands. He has also collaborated with many companies in the sector such as Molteni & C, Poliform, B&B Italia, Paola Lenti, just to name a few.
