Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec
Ronan, born in 1971, and Erwan in 1978, are two brothers and French designers from Paris who have always shared the same passion for engineering and design. They have been working together for about 15 years, testing their different personalities to produce furnishings often considered masterpieces for their finesse and stylistic simplicity.
They were selected by Capellini in 1997 to work on what was their first industrial design project. After this first important collaboration, it was Vitra’s turn who, in the early 2000s, decided to entrust them with a project for a new office system. From that moment onward, collaborations with major brands in the design industry continued uninterrupted.
Companies such as Flos, Kettal, Kartell, Glass Italia, Ligne Roset, and Magis sought them for their professionalism by entrusting them with new product design projects.
The two French brothers have worked and continue to work in various fields ranging from product and jewellery design, photography and video, to architecture and experimental art. Especially this last experimental area has allowed the Bouroullecs to keep alive the creativity that all too often is abated in standardized industrial processes.
Works by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec are exhibited in the world's most famous permanent art galleries. Several of their works are found on display at the Centre Pompidou, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the London Design Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago.
Today they are appreciated the world over for their innovative approach and refreshing style. The two brothers who once left France have now travelled the world and nothing can stop them.
